I simply don´t know where to begin to thank you for our week at Tall Spruce House. As I´ve told you, the pictures don´t do it justice...even the wide-angle shots. What a comfortable and cozy environment you´ve created for group gatherings. Absolutely NO DETAIL has been overlooked to make even the hardest to please feel right at home. From the moment we arrived, we felt so "at home". We had noted on the website that the kitchen was very well stocked. I must tell you that the amateur chefs in my family were totally amazed by how well it was appointed. I probably don´t need to tell you what a hit the "Bunkie" was with our grandchildren and how delightfully surprised I was to learn that the house had a pack ´n play. Even the bedding (comforter/pillow shams) for the rollaway beds was decorator quality! Every single room had its own comfortable and inviting personality. Although we didn’t have any pets with us, I couldn’t help but notice the kennel, blankets, etc., neatly stacked and designated for pet use. Often you find a property owner has concentrated on one or two of the main rooms and the others are bare and lacking. Not so with Tall Spruce House! Attention to detail with comfort in mind is evident all over the house. Amazingly, you´ve been able to achieve a most kid-friendly environment combined with decor and comfort to please the most discriminating in taste. I regret that my early and hurried departure prevented me from signing the guest book or completing your "suggestion" sheet. I have to tell you though that I´ve polled everyone and not a single one of us could come up with a suggestion for improvement...not one. That is truly a testament to what you´ve done with this property. Thank you so much the chocolate chip cookies you had waiting for us upon our arrival. What a delightful surprise and yet another example of the hospitality you offer your guests at Tall Spruce House. Oh, by the way, Durango was great, too. We laughed about your having ordered the snowfall just for our visit!

I want to tell you how much we enjoyed our stay at the Tall Spruce House. We have been entertaining clients with a fishing trip for a number of years. We used to stay in a hotel in Durango, but have now stayed at Tall Spruce House for the last five years. They have all commented on what a great find it has been. Besides the exceptional comfort and beauty of the house, it allows us all to enjoy each other´s company more. We have breakfast together in the morning and after a full day of fishing can relax in the living room with cocktails and snacks before going to dinner. After dinner, we can relax with a movie before going to bed. One client even cooked a gourmet dinner for the group at the house. Everyone is looking forward to coming back next year.

The pictures on the website do not do this place justice. You have to see it in person. It is an impressive home. Very well maintained. The two elegant master suites are huge. The bathrooms are gorgeous. Tons of room for our family reunion. The location is perfect. Excellent views of the San Juan mountains. The Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge train passes by within viewing distance of the front porch. Very centralized for great fishing spots, site-seeing, and four-wheel drive trails. Thank you very much for the great memories. We will be sure to come back soon.

Our family's stay at the Tall Spruce House was a wonderful experience for our whole family celebrating our 50th Wedding Anniversary. The house was a beautiful home, ideally furnished for our desires. The location was also ideal allowing us to enjoy kid's games on the front yard, white water rafting, golf, fishing, the Durango-Silverton train trip, the Durango Recreational Center for our younger family members, and awesome scenic drives. All of us, from age 5 to 72, enjoyed our stay. The anniversary dinner prepared and served for us by your Executive Chef was just perfect - deliciously prepared and impeccably served. We're sorry we didn't get to meet you because you were such a gracious host. You helped us decide on the activities everyone wanted to do, making our stay very comfortable and memorable. We would recommend the Tall Spruce House to any group!

What a great place! The house is beautifully appointed & comfortable. We didn't feel like we were staying in someone else's house. The reservation process was easy. The house is conveniently located between Durango & Purgatory. The house is well-equipped for large numbers - not only beds & towels, but also silverware, glasses, storage, etc. We plan to come back!

Our stay at the Tall Spruce House was wonderful. Your home handled our group of nine Mountain Bikers perfectly. Everyone could sit down to dinner at one time, many people could participate in meal preparation and clean-up without being crowded in the kitchen. The 2-car garage was a perfect place to work on the bikes while it was raining. And having four full baths and two washers and dryers proved very helpful for our athletic group. While we enjoyed many group activities in your home, everyone still had their own private space to escape and enjoy solitude. We will recommend your property to anyone with a large group planning to visit Durango.

The Tall Spruce House was a good fit for our family --all 16 of us (the two of us, our 3 children and their spouses, and our 8 grandchildren). We were all very comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay--bears and all! In fact, one evening the bears came about 7:30 p.m. (much earlier than other nights) and that found all 16 of our noses pressed against the front windows watching their antics. We are a family who likes to cook and we enjoyed preparing Thanksgiving dinner in your well-equipped kitchen--it seemed every need had been anticipated. Thanks to all who made our stay at the Tall Spruce House such a wonderful memory.
